Introducing our “RNLI Since 1824” collaboration

It’s approaching the bi-centenary of the Royal National Lifeboat Association – almost 200 years of saving lives at sea – providing a search and rescue service, powered by public generosity and manned by an army of ordinary people.

Founded by Sir William Hillary in 1824, the organisation’s aim was to provide a 24/7 search and rescue lifeboat service run, where possible, by volunteers and funded by voluntary donations. And this philosophy remains today, with over 95% of the organisation made up of volunteers, supported by expert staff – the RNLI remains separate from the coastguard and independent from government. Since 1824 RNLI lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 143,000.

We are proud to support the RNLI through our “Trade your Sail” sail recycling programme – for every usable sail you donate we will trade you a bag…and if you don’t want a bag we will make a donation to RNLI on your behalf.

So imagine how thrilled we were to be asked to make a range of products for the RNLI Since 1824 collection – Hundreds of products have shipped out from our loft over the last couple of weeks and are now available to buy online at the RNLI Shopsaving sails from landfill and saving lives at sea…a powerful combination!

We are the RNLI: the charity that saves lives
at sea.
Every day of every year, people of all
backgrounds get into danger in the water.
It’s a problem that we’re here to tackle.
We’re here to explain the risks, share safety
knowledge, and rescue people whose lives
are in danger.
We’re here to work with others to make
the water a safer place for everyone.
We’re here to prevent tragedies on and offshore.
And with your support, we always will be.
