From Boat to Bag & Back again

These sails are 10 years old and were made by Owen Sails in Scotland. The mainsail is 357 square feet and the Genoa is 607 feet, weighing 30kg and 19kg respectively

No wonder Liz didn’t want them to end up in landfill when they were in need of new sails for their beautiful boat. So, like many sailors, who realise there is a happier end for their much loved and used sails, she contacted Sails and Canvas to take advantage of our sail recycling programme and be part of our Eco Circle – SAILED, SAVED, SEWN.

Liz was local and kind enough to drive with the sails to our Topsham workshop and we were more than happy to make her a personalised flight bag from her sail as a trade – and a shopper too – both bags are perfect reminders of all those good days on the water and look totally at home back on board!
