Heading down to the water on the Mount Batten Penisular, Plymouth, Devon you will find the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre, one of the foremost Outdoor Education centres in the South West – the sheltered waters of Plymouth Sound providing the perfect environment for teaching watersports. On offer are multi-activity courses, family fun days, RYA Instructor courses, RYA and BCU personal proficiency awards and corporate team building events. We specialise in providing tailor-made programmes to your requirements.
From 1917 – 1986 the entire penisular was a Royal Air Force station and flying boat base – RAF Mount Batten. The main slipway and two impressive Grade II listed F-type aeroplane hangars dating from 1917 remain – the slipway is still used by the watersports centre. RAF Mount Batton was also home to Lawrence of Arabia on his return to England after the First World War, where he had little known career in the Marine Branch of the R.A.F. Read more here.

The centre had a good clear out of old dinghy sails and contacted Sails and Canvas to recycle the old sails and save them from landfill….a big thank you to them for getting in touch! And as a thank you from us for the old sails we will be making a donation to the RNLI on behalf of the watersports centre. There will be lots of lovely limited edition pieces arriving on our website soon using these brightly coloured dinghy sails!
