Save Old Sails – Calling South West Sailing Clubs!

We have never struggled to source sails for our products and are contacted by individuals and sailing clubs from all over the country – mainly due to our longstanding “Recycle Your Sail” web page which has been driving traffic in our direction for the 9 years since we started Sails and Canvas.

Whilst using a courier to collect and deliver sails is a relatively efficient way to meet the UK wide demand for a sail recycling service, we have always been keen to build relationships with local sailing clubs. We would love clubs to provide sail drop off points for old and unwated sails on our doorstep….it makes it easier for us to collect en masse and reduces the carbon footprint of our core material.

Earlier this month we contacted all of the sailing clubs in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset and so far have had a number of very postive responses! Posters have gone out for club noticeboards to publicise our Save Old Sails “Eco Circle” From Boat To Bag and we’ve sent out a number of products as raffle prizes for upcoming sustainability awareness events, club & charity fundraisers.

It’s great that there is an increased awareness for sustainability amongst the sailing community…and a couple of clubs are hoping to provide space for sail drop offs too! So watch this space – it’s all a step in the right direction to help keep old sails out of landfill ♻️💚
